A Home Away From Home
Ronald McDonald House in Randwick provides supportive programs and accommodation for families with seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital. RMHC Sydney is dedicated to offering free accommodation, helping alleviate the financial burdens associated with caring for a sick child.
Since opening in 1991, the House has been a haven for regional and rural families, keeping them close while their children receive essential treatment. With 28 rooms and 4 isolation units, the House can accommodate up to 32 families each night.
In 2023 alone, we supported 962 families, some traveling from as far as Darwin, to ensure their children received the medical care they needed.
Our House features communal facilities that foster a warm, social environment, helping families feel more at ease during challenging times. These include a children’s play area, a backyard, a lounge and dining room, and an adults-only Quiet Room. Other communal areas, such as the laundry and kitchen, are well-loved and in near-constant use as families balance hospital visits, treatments, and stays on the ward.
Our Learning Program ensures that children can continue their education while staying at the House. Additionally, we offer enriching activities and excursions. Within a few minutes’ walk, you’ll find cafes, restaurants, a playground, a park, and of course, the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
The dedicated staff and volunteers at Ronald McDonald House Randwick work tirelessly to support families, allowing them to focus on their child’s recovery. We are committed to ensuring families feel supported for however long they need to stay.
Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
