The Ronald McDonald Learning Program (RMLP) aims to bridge the gap for school-aged students whose education is disrupted due to serious illness or injury.
Supporting children from kindergarten to Year 12, the program provides a range of educational services, including up to 40 hours of one-on-one tutoring and funding towards allied health intervention.
After School Crew
Our Education Coordinators plan weekly activities for the children staying in the House including school holiday programs and special events/excursions and incursions. The activities are on occasion supported by our Corporate Partners and are entertaining and engaging. These Programs are offered to the children and siblings who are staying in the House, but also to children who are signed up with the Ronald McDonald Learning Program.
Teacher Professional Development
EDMed® is one of the services provided by the Ronald McDonald Learning Program team. Planning for the return of a student who has suffered a serious illness or injury can present challenges for teachers. This is a free, one-hour professional development session that provides a range of educational strategies and information to assist in the smooth transition and integration back to school. This module can be delivered face-to-face or in a self-paced, online learning environment. To find out about EDMed Professional Development and book a face-to-face presentation contact the Education Coordinator.

Teach with Us
The Ronald McDonald Learning Program gives teachers a chance to help seriously ill children catch up on their missed education. Teachers are paid on an hourly basis to tutor students recovering from illness at the student’s school, online or local public library. Each student receives up to 40 hours of tutoring, usually completed for an hour each week over four school terms. Apply here.
Charlie Bell Scholarship
When a young person is dealing with a serious illness or injury, other parts of their life can sometimes come to a standstill.
As their treatment and recovery become the priority, it can almost feel impossible to carry on with education, professional development or the career path they were pursuing.
To help students get back on their career path and towards the future they dream of, Ronald McDonald House Charities established the Charlie Bell Scholarship. The scholarship awards one-off grants of up to $5,000 to young people aged 15 to 20 years, to assist towards their tertiary education.
Whether the money is used for books, supplies, apprenticeship tools or university fees, the scholarship is there to help young people get back on their path to success – wherever that might take them.
