Our Mission Partner

Ronald McDonald House Charities is a global charity founded in 1974 in the USA, thanks to the visionary foresight of Dr. Audrey Evans, an oncologist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Evans envisioned a sanctuary where families could rest and rejuvenate away from the hospital ward while their children underwent treatment. The funds to build the first House were generously raised by the local McDonald’s restaurant, and in gratitude for their support, it was named the ‘Ronald McDonald House’.

The first Ronald McDonald House in Australia opened its doors in Camperdown, NSW, in 1981, setting the foundation for many more Houses across the country. Since then, Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney (RMHC Sydney) has continued this legacy, providing a much-needed home away from home for families with sick children.

Our mission partner, McDonald’s Corporate, Licensees, and their customers, play a crucial role in sustaining and supporting our efforts. Here in Sydney, McDonald’s Licensees and their employees are active, passionate supporters of the families cared for by RMHC Sydney. Their dedication is evident in their continuous efforts to raise funds and awareness for our cause.

Every year, McDonald’s Licensees and employees across Sydney demonstrate extraordinary support through various initiatives. Events such as Walk Me Home, McHappy Day and volunteering at Ronald McDonald House in Randwick by cooking breakfast or dinner highlighting their commitment and generosity. These efforts are instrumental in ensuring that we can provide the essential services and support that families need during their most challenging times.

We extend our deepest gratitude to McDonald’s and its community of supporters. Your unwavering commitment and passion make a significant difference in the lives of sick children and their families, helping us to continue our mission of offering comfort, care, and a home away from home.
